Most people would love to be more active, but the idea of going to the gym is terrifying to a lot of them.

You have to understand that fitness is not only about looking good but living a healthier, fuller, and longer life. It doesn’t have to be painful, however. Let’s take a look at a few ways that you can make exercise fun.

Get a bike

Getting a bike is one of the best ways to make exercise not only fun but practical. Getting a bike will often get you from point A to point B quicker than through traffic. You can also leave your bike at a train station if you feel like the distance is too much.

You also don’t need to go super intense and make it feel like you’re working out. Go at your own pace. Just try to take a ride at least 5 to 7 times a week for 30 minutes at moderate intensity.

Get a bus pass

You may ask how a bus pass can help with fitness, but there are plenty of things you could do. For instance, it will allow you to not only reduce your carbon footprint but change your whole habits as well. A bus pass could be a perfect complement to the bike you just got but also allows you to walk more.

Walk more

One thing you could do if you think walking on a treadmill or around your neighborhood is boring is to go on walking expeditions. Instead of thinking in terms of minutes, choose a certain destination you want to get to. This may be because you had to go there or feel like you’ll enjoy the walk. You can do pit stops along the way, but you have to dedicate yourself to the whole experience. You can then come back home on public transit.

Learn a sport

Sport is probably the best way to get a workout without realising it. The most important is picking a sport you actually like. And don’t assume that because a sport seems to have a low pace that it won’t be challenging physically. For instance, it has been estimated that practicing your golf swing for one hour could allow you to burn as much as 279 calories in one hour.

You also don’t have to go to the driving range either. You could get yourself a nice simulator instead and practice from the comfort of your home. If you don’t know which one to pick, you should check out Rain or Shine golf. They have several good options you can choose from and run the pros and cons of each as well as the best units for entertainment vs training.

Play video games

Getting a motion sensor console like the Nintendo Switch or the Kinect for Xbox could be a great fun way to add some activity into your routine. You could pick a game made specifically for training like Ring Fit Adventure or Fitness Boxing for the Switch or a dancing game that demands a lot of activity. Picking a game with fun gameplay will take your mind away from the workout aspect and focus on unlocked levels instead.

These are all simple ways that you could make working out fun. Try all of these options and always try to find new ways to add a little more activity to your daily routine.
