New Year’s Eve… before we pop the cork!

Neck of a champagne bottle and cork popping, against a yellow background

The first time I heard Hilary Swank’s speech from the film New Year’s Day, I got very emotional (for me). Every year has its share of ups and downs, and somehow it sums up New Year’s Eve perfectly.

So before the celebrations get underway (or cocoa and early night for that matter), here are some very wise words from Hilary Swank:

Neck of a champagne bottle and cork popping, against a yellow background‘This New Year’s Eve, before we pop the Champagne and celebrate the New Year, we should stop and reflect on the year that has gone by.

To remember both our triumphs and our mis-steps, our promises both kept and broken.

The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt – because that’s what New Year is all about – getting another chance.

A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more.

And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be.

So at midnight, let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, love one another, including ourselves.

Not just for tonight but all year long.’

We wish all happiness, health and wealth.

Happy New Year!!! x
