How to spice up your life with a new job

Are you bored at work?

Do you feel you have a boring lifestyle? Do you wake up in the morning with the thought that today you will find something interesting to do? If yes, then this is the moment to start looking for a delightful job. But, what should you consider when doing this?

There are a lot of interesting and delightful jobs to consider, but how do you decide which one is the best for you? Which one fits you the best?

Before looking for a job

First, play a little memory game. Think about your past jobs and which were the things you liked the most. What activities did you really enjoy? If your past job is not a good example, think about the jobs of your friends. What jobs did they have that fascinated you? What you would love and hate the most about your future job?

These are the questions you need to answer before starting to look for a job. Even though a job will make your lifestyle less boring, you need to choose it carefully.

Find what suits you the best

1. Your skills

Now you need to analyse your skills. In order to find a fulfilling job that matches your skills and does not bore you, you need to find out your top skills. A job is done with pleasure only when the difficulty and challenge of the tasks meet your skills.

If the job difficulty exceeds your skills, you will find yourself in a boring situation. For example, if you have good communication skills and you love working with children, you can choose a job as an educator at kindergarten.

2. The ideal job

We all have an idea of what our ideal job would look like, so for sure you know too. If you answer the above questions, you can end up with a list of at least 10 key elements your future job must-have. For example, if you love teaching people how to do different tasks, maybe you can find a job as a teacher.

If you love travelling and meeting new people, maybe you can choose from fishing in Alaska, athletic recruiter or cruise line worker. Either way, there are plenty of jobs to choose from. Your future job must have at least six or seven key elements from your list.

3. See your past as an advantage

You might be tempted to dismiss your past experience when looking for a job. Try to see it as an advantage. Even though the jobs are totally different, for sure you have acquired some skills that are actually useful for this new job.

For example, if you have been a recruiter or a manager, you have good communication and leadership skills. Knowing how to communicate effectively is a great asset, so take advantage of it.

4. Trial and error

Some people find their ideal job by taking a career test. Others need to go through a long process of trial and error to find out what they really like. But you have some experience with your past jobs, so you can gather all the experiences to help you decide which one is the one right for you.

5. Your main interests

More and more niche jobs are available. Depending on your main interests, you can find a job that fits you. For example, climate change and pollution are hot topics nowadays. New jobs appear every day, jobs that aim to reduce pollution and raise awareness of climate change among people.

If you want a green job, you can be an environmental scientist or researcher. Or, you can even apply for jobs like an urban planner or farmer. If you want to help and protect the planet, then start searching for green jobs.

No matter what your main interests are, just personalize your job search depending on them.

Finding a delightful job can sometimes be difficult. But if you think about the activities you enjoy the most, for sure you can find the ideal job that will make your life less boring. Analyse your skills and your main interests.

Do not dismiss your past experience, as it is very relevant for new opportunities. Personalize your search according to the key elements your dream job has.

Stay perseverant, committed, and motivated and you will find the perfect job for you.
