Fun ideas if you’re being frugal.

date night budgetIf you and your partner are trying to be careful with your money or are looking for date ideas on a budget, we’ve put together some ideas for you. You don’t need to spend loads of money in order to create a memorable and romantic date. These five ideas are things you can do together that won’t break the bank!

1. Cook a special meal together

Something really romantic and special that you can do together is to choose your favourite meals and take it in turns to cook. If you both enjoy cooking or you could cook the meal together. Perhaps one of you could choose to do the dessert and one of you do the main course, and mix things up a bit. You could also make an evening of it by enjoying some drinks together. Put some music on in the background and decorate the house so that it recreates a romantic restaurant setting. The beauty of this is that you will be able to enjoy a meal together that you’ve both made, in a romantic setting but for a fraction of the price. The only thing is that you will have to do the washing up afterwards!

2. Go stargazing outside

This is one for anyone who is into astronomy or just looking at the stars. Something really romantic to do together is to set up a blanket outside, light some candles, pour drinks and lay down together to look at the stars. This is also a great way to get to know your partner better. Turn your phones off so that you don’t have any distractions from the world and talk to your partner. If you are really into astronomy you could look up some constellations and something fun to do with your partner might be to try to locate them in the sky, as long as there isn’t too much cloud!

3. Picnic on the beach

Something that’s nice to do at any time of the year is to visit the beach and take a walk or have a picnic. If you’re looking for a date night on a summer evening then this is a nice thing to do while the sun is setting. If you want to make an evening of it you could even bring your own BBQ to enjoy some food or drinks by the sea. We recommend turning your phone off and enjoying not only each other’s company, but also being outside together in nature, listening to the sounds of the waves.

4. Go for a long walk

If you both enjoy being active then it’s lovely to go for a nice walk or hike somewhere out in the countryside. If you are looking for an adventure you could even choose to go somewhere new and explore together. Perhaps you could look for a place that has a nice cosy, country pub en route and stop off for a drink.

Or you could go a little further and drive out to where you’d like to start your hike – if it’s not too far you won’t need to stay overnight. Or you could choose a small B&B or self-catering place to keep your costs down.

5. Enjoy a games night

Everyone loves to play board games, don’t they? So why not organise a games night with your partner? If board games aren’t your thing then you could look at online games or video games that you could play together, or even have a retro games night! There are loads of different games that you could play together.
