Book Club: The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri

Henpicked’s book of the month for September 2020…

Thank you so much to everyone who has joined in the discussion about The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell.

If you haven’t shared your thoughts yet, please do join in the conversation at the bottom of the article on Disqus. What did you think of it? Would you recommend it to a friend? We know some of us haven’t finished yet but we’d still like to hear from you.

For this month we’ve chosen The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri.

Nuri is a beekeeper; his wife, Afra, an artist.

They live a simple life, rich in family and friends, in the beautiful Syrian city of Aleppo – until the unthinkable happens. When all they care for is destroyed by war, they are forced to escape.

Here are the reviews:

“This book dips below the deafening headlines, and tells a true story with subtlety and power.” Esther Freud

“A beautiful novel, intelligent, thoughtful; and relevant. I’m recommending this book to everyone I care about. So I’m recommending this book to you.” Benjamin Zephaniah
