Henpicked’s book of the month for October 2018…
We are so grateful to Suzanne, our book club member, for the excellent recommendation for September’s book of the month, The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden.
Thank you from all of us, it was such a different genre and took you away to a very fairytale place.
If you haven’t shared your thoughts yet, please do join in the conversation at the bottom of the article on Disqus. What did you think of it? Would you recommend it to a friend? We know some of us haven’t finished yet but we’d still like to hear from you.
For this month, we’re visiting a favourite author – Ruth Hogan. We all loved her book The Keeper of Lost Things. Something to warm our hearts as the weather turns cold felt like a good idea. Let’s see what we think of her new book, The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes. Here’s the reviews:
‘Warm and wise’ Guardian ‘
A book to really love … makes reading a joy’ Stylist
‘Will soften even the hardest of hearts’ Red
‘Subtle and poignant’ Good Housekeeping
‘Plenty of spirit and heart‘ Daily Mail
‘An adorable heartfelt story’ Prima
‘Filled with hope and the power of friendship’ Evening Standard
‘A whimsical, wistful affair’ Sunday Express
‘A wrenching story of recovery’ Metro
We hope you enjoy it!
